Yesterday evening I continued my series through the Book of Revelation with chapter 19, detailing the final and ultimate destruction of what is called in the text, “Babylon.” For years, commentators have debated the identity of Babylon. When I was in college, many felt the description pointed to Rome and the Catholic church. Lately, however, with the rise of a new Iraq, some feel that it may refer to the literal and ancient city of Babylon.
I’m honestly not sure. I don’t know that anyone can be. I lean towards a literal Babylon, but the news from the Vatican a few days ago certainly stirred the pot. Some suggest that the Vatican is actually calling for a one-world government and central bank. Others say they didn’t. You can read the announcement for yourself here.
