Yesterday my family made the trek to Escazu for some shopping. We needed a few things for the house, and we desperately wanted something to eat. We got started with lunch at McD’s, followed by a trip to Wal-Mart. Sadly, Wal-Mart’s selection was pretty pathetic. Don’t imagine that we are shopping at your neighborhood Wal-Mart. The signage is the same, but the selection is sad.
Afterwards, we hit a few more stores, striking out at each one. It was almost comical, giving us flashbacks to our first few weeks here. Shopping is more of a challenge than you can imagine.
We ended up getting about a third of the things we came for, but experience has taught us that a third is pretty good in the third world.
On our way back home, Angela and I decided to treat the kids to Pizza Hut. They were thrilled. One even said, “McDonald’s and Pizza Hut in the same day. This is incredible.”
My kids are good at redefining blessing.
